I'm writing this though for the times in which I've shared my good news and others have come back with "...you're staying?" "Oh, do you like San Marcos?" or the ever famous, "I don't know how you can live here!"
And I get it, I truly do. It's a smaller town, a college town. A town no one really cares to take too seriously. But this town is my home. It has been for the past four years and it always will be.
From the moment I came to San Marcos, I felt as if I could be anything and everything that I wanted to be and I have done/been those things. San Marcos lit a spark within me, not only to further my education, or to pursue my career wholeheartedly, or even to better myself emotionally, mentally, and physically--but to be apart of and to cultivate the community.
I look at San Marcos and see opportunity, adventure, culture, character, knowledge, vision, authenticity, and ultimately awe-inspiring beauty.
I'm sure if I asked you about your home--you'd say the same. That's what home is, the place where your heart resides, the place that takes your breath away, and the place you fall in love with every day. It's the unscathed, untouched, natural space that allows/accepts you to be who you truly are and inspires you to be more.
