In case you are unaware...Caitlyn Jenner made her debut today on the cover of Vanity Fair! For me, this is incredibly exciting simply because I was so curious to see Bruce's transformation into Caitlyn (and can I add that she is stunning)! But apparently there are some men and women who aren't too thrilled about the cover of Vanity Fair or Caitlyn's debut. And while I won't get into the details of it all, I just feel really compelled to share my thoughts on the topic. You see, for me, Caitlyn sharing her story with the world isn't a debate about ethics, morals, politics or religion. Caitlyn's story is one about love. In fact, every story that we share is to give or receive love. We tell our stories to connect with one another and let others know that they are not alone, or we share our stories in hopes that we will be reached out to. Caitlyn's story--while more publicized--is no different than any of our own. She's sharing her story because 1) if she didn't the media would have a field day and 2) because she wants others who feel the way she does to know that they are not alone. Regardless of your religion or political stance--the one thing you cannot deny about Caitlyn is that she is a vulnerable and authentic being who is open and receptive to love. When we deny people the right to tell their stories, we deny the chance for us and them to come/go and get their love. |
